July 11, 2002 NEWS RELEASE
$7300 AVAILABLE FOR 2ND YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) has mailed the 2nd year scholarship applications to the Class of 2001 that had received a scholarship from CSF. This year there is $7300 available to be divided evenly between the number of applications received back. The applications are due back by July 31, 2002.
If you did not receive an application for the 2nd year scholarship money please be sure to contact JC Miller at Manatts 641-522-9206 and he will mail one out to you. If you are late in returning the application, you will be denied any 2nd year scholarship.
The 2nd year scholarship fund was set up by the Raymond M. Foster Estate and is available to graduates who have successfully completed their first year of college after graduating from BGM. The Raymond M. Foster estate set aside approximately $148,000 in 1994, into the Second Year Scholarship Fund. The fund has grown to $187,000. Five percent of the beginning balance each year will be given out. To protect the fund, if interest falls below 5% then only the actual interest earned will be given out. Any interest earned above the 5% will be added to the principal. This will insure the principal balance always stays the same or will continue to grow which helps protect the fund from inflation.
Contributions may be added to the Raymond M. Foster funds or any other Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM funds. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the foundation please contact Ric Radcliffe, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM School Board, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
