CHANGE OF OFFICERS WITHIN CSF OF BGM

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) would like to make the announcement that for the first time in the history of CSF a change has been made to the president position.

At the annual organization meeting held on October 3, 2002, after 13 years of being president, J.C. Miller said it was time to train someone else for his position.  Also, Lyle Oswood after 11 years of being vice-president has stepped down from that position.  This years officer’s will be: President – Julie Cline, Vice-President – Dorothea Hicks, Secretary – Lyle Oswood, Treasurer – Becky Edelen.  All officers have agreed to hold their office for a two-year term.

The scholarship foundation would like to say a big “Thank you” to JC and Lyle for their many years of service.  And to JC for all the extra time and effort he has contributed to the foundation here and all over the State of Iowa.

Other business discussed during the organization meeting, was to set the dates for the coming year, with Stuffing Night set for November 6 at 6:30 pm, Application Handout date March 3rd, Application Deadline date March 31st, and Awards Night date May 21st.  The CD’s were approved with more of the funds being transferred from Grinnell 1st Federal to the Poweshiek County Savings bank, which offered a better interest rate, and the treasurer’s report was given.   In new business a motion was made to establish a 3rd year scholarship.  The money will come from scholarships awarded but unused and will be placed in the 3rd year fund with the interest off the fund to be given as a 3rd year scholarship.  This fund is for students who have consecutively completed their 1st and 2nd year and are starting their 3rd year of college.

An announcement was also made that this year the State Conference will be hosting about four mini conferences instead on one large one with the closest one to be held at the Grinnell College.

Please remember that the earlier your contribution is received, more interest can be generated, making more money available for scholarships.
