CSF ESTABLISHES PERMANENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR ELDON SORENSEN

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a contribution for $2500 to establish a permanent scholarship from the family of Eldon Sorensen.

Eldon attended Galva High School in Galva, IA and after graduation was a carpenter for awhile then worked for the Vernon Co in Newton for over 20 years, and in recent years have resided at Holiday Lake.  Several of Eldon’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren have attended BGM Schools.

Eldon and Jane Sorensen had always wanted to contribute money for a scholarship but had never gotten around to it.  The family thought that this would be a fitting memorial for Eldon and would in turn be beneficial to graduating students.  The family is hoping to award a scholarship to an industrial tech student attending a two-year school as Eldon loved to do carpenter work.

The Foundation is grateful to the family of Eldon Sorensen for their contribution.  This memorial will be always a part of the Foundation and will help to encourage all graduates to continue their education.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Marie Hedlund, Board of Trustee representative for the City of Brooklyn, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
