July 18, 2003 NEWS RELEASE
JULY 31st DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING ON SCHOLARSHIP MONEY
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) has a deadline of July 31, 2003 for the Second Year Scholarship applications, available for the Class of 2002 who had received a scholarship from CSF. The Motes 2nd year applications had previously been sent out to the 2002 graduates. The new 3rd year scholarship applications have also been sent, with a deadline of July 31st . Third year students must have been attending college the past two years to qualify.
There will be no extensions and July 31st is the absolute deadline for the Foundation to receive applications. The 1st year scholarship paperwork must be turned in also or you will not be getting a check. The checks are usually sent out around August 15th and if you are late sending in your paperwork your check will be delayed even further.
Please remember you also have one year to start using the 1st year scholarship awarded. For those students who received a scholarship in May 2003 you have until August 15, 2004 to start using it. Scholarships not used will then be transferred into the Third Year Fund or other funds as directed by the Board of Trustees. The exception to the one-year rule is if the student enters the Armed Forces of the United States then they have one year after being released from active duty to use the scholarship. If you have entered the military the CSF board will need to be informed of your status.
If you have any questions regarding your scholarship money, please contact Becky Edelen at 522-9206 (work).
