SCHOLARSHIP MONEY SENT OUT BY CSF

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) has mailed the scholarship money of $17,884.00 to all students who have scholarship money coming, it the paperwork was processed.

The $17,884.00 is comprised of 53 checks being mailed of which 21 checks were sent to the Class of 2003 for a total of $10,200.00.  The remaining checks were distributed with 17 checks mailed to the Class of 2002 in the amount of $6,326.00, and the Class of 2001 in the amount of $1358.00.

There were 6 members of the Class of 2003 who have not returned their paperwork.  If you have any questions regarding your scholarship money, please contact Becky Edelen at 641-522-9206 (work).

It’s the Foundations policy that scholarship money will be paid not exceeding $500 per semester.  If you received a scholarship of $1,200 for example, you would receive $500 in the fall of 2003, $500 at the beginning of 2004, and then the remainder in the fall of 2004.

Please remember you also have one year to start using the scholarship awarded.  For those students who received a scholarship in May 2003 you have until August 15, 2004 to start using it.  In order to receive your scholarship money you also need to make sure your paperwork is filled out and returned to Becky.  The money is not automatically sent out.

Scholarships not used will be transferred into the Third Year Fund or other funds as directed by the Board of Trustees.  The exception to the one-year rule is if the student enters the Armed Forces of the United States then they have one-year after being released from active duty to use the scholarship.

If you would like to be a part of the Foundation in any way, or would like to make a contribution, please contact Julie Grier, Board of Trustee representative for the Guernsey Commercial Club, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
