CSF ESTABLISHES PERMANENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR VERDECK

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a contribution for $2600 to establish a permanent scholarship from the family of Barbara Willett Verdeck.

Barbara was married to Ray Verdeck and lived on a farm between Brooklyn and Victor.  They had three children Julie married to Laverne Bartachek, Jeff Verdeck married to Kathy and Lisa married to Dale Cunningham.

Barbara’s daughter, Julie made the comment that her mother had been a legal secretary for different law firms since graduation from Brooklyn in 1952 and felt that education was very important to achieve.  It was her mothers wish to establish a permanent scholarship after she was gone in hopes of giving family, friends, and those who desire to further their education a chance to continue on to college.  So far all of Barbara’s grandchildren have attended college with still two left to graduate this year from high school.

The Foundation is grateful to the family of Barbara Verdeck for their contribution.  This memorial will be always a part of the Foundation and will help to encourage all graduates to continue their education.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Natalie Gritsch, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM Alumni Association, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
