AWARDS
NIGHT
On Thursday night May 11, 2000,
scholarships and awards were presented to our graduating seniors. It was an impressive evening with 68
scholarships granted to the 31 seniors who had applied for a scholarship.
The program began with the CSF of
BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) presenting their scholarships. This is the 11th year that the
Citizens Scholarship Foundation has been presenting their scholarships to the
graduating seniors. The BGM communities
should be very proud of themselves and the support that you give to our
graduates. You have given hope to our
students wishing to go on to higher education.
After the CSF of BGM program there was a slide presentation of the
senior class, then the BGM School District presented their awards and
recognitions.
Congratulations to the Class of 2000
and the other students that received awards and recognition.
All graduating seniors applying for
a scholarship received one. A total of
$50,250 was available to be given out to 31 applicants. The awards that were not presented were the
R.J. McElroy and Skip Motes Mini-Grant, the Skip Motes Second Chance
Scholarship, and the Raymond M Foster Second Year Scholarships for the Class of
1999, which are to be given out at a later date.
Over the past eleven years
(including this year) the CSF of BGM has given out a total of 452 scholarships
and $290,065.00 to our graduating seniors.
This is an impressive figure and was accomplished with the communities
help. Education is a gift for a
lifetime. Thanks to all of you and all
your work, the CSF of BGM and the BGM School District, has an opportunity to
pass on that gift through the endowment fund.
