CSF OF BGM RECEIVES $1000 FROM MANATTS ENTERPRISES
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a check for $1000 from Manatts Enterprises.
Merlin & Verna Manatt and the late Junie Manatt, have always been a strong supporter of the Foundation. They were one of the original matching funds along with the Brooklyn Mutual Telephone Co. and the Poweshiek County Savings Bank. The three businesses helped get the Foundation off the ground and establish the base the Foundation has today.
Comments that have been made by Merlin & Verna have often been about our youth and education. They have said that our youth are the most important asset we have and we (the community) must try to give them the opportunity to receive the best education possible. The community must help them to be the best they can. The Scholarship Foundation is only one way in which all of us can help.
The Foundation is grateful to Merlin & Verna Manatt and the 6 children (John, Tim, Melia, Deb, Mary Jo and Mindy), of the late Junie Manatt for their continued support. With their support and everyone else in the community, the Foundation has been able to give that opportunity to our students wishing to go onto higher education.
The annual appeal letter and report will be mailed in October. Your contribution no matter how large or small, does make a difference. The earlier your donation is received, the larger the interest income, making more money available to be used for the scholarships.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Dennis Smith, Board of Trustee representative for the Ministerial Association, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
