CSF OF BGM ANNUAL ORGANIZATION MEETING

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM, a Dollars for Scholars Chapter, held their annual organization meeting Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at the Manatt’s office building.

The meeting was called to order by President J.C. Miller and those present were: J.C. Miller, Dorothea Hicks, Dale Douglas, Julie Grier, Becky Edelen, Brenda Strong, Sherry Burke, Marcia Braley, Virginia Ricketts, and Julie Cline.

An election of officers was held with two new officers, secretary and treasurer, being elected.  This years officers are President – J.C. Miller, Vice-President – Lyle Oswood, Secretary – Julie Cline, and Treasurer – Becky Edelen.

The treasurer’s report was given for the 1999 – 2000 year, but the audit was not complete at the time of the meeting.  An update on the Investment Committee was given and the purchase of CD’s at Poweshiek Co Savings Bank and the First Federal Savings Bank were approved.

The Iowa Conference will be held at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids, November 4, 2000 at 10:00.  VMF Capital will be donating $1500.00 for 6 - $250.00 scholarships to be awarded to schools represented at the meeting.  The more people that we have in attendance the better chance we have of getting a scholarship again this year.

Discussion was also held on the high school class fundraising.  It was decided to form a committee to work with each of the classes and try to get them to participate in a fundraiser for their individual class.

Please remember that the earlier your contribution is received, more interest can be generated, making more money available for scholarships.  The annual statement and appeals letter will be mailed this week.  Please take the time to return a donation to the foundation in the envelope provided.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation, please contact Brenda Strong, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM Alumni Association, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
