$50,000
SCHOLARSHIP MONEY AVAILABLE FOR AWARDS NIGHT
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation
of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) has announced that there will be $50,000
available in scholarship money to be awarded at Awards Night, Thursday May 11,
2000.
The $50,000 consist of the following
breakdown: The Class of 2000 will
receive $38,965, the 2nd Chance program will receive $1800, the Mini
Grant program will receive $535, and the Raymond M Foster 2nd Year
program for the Class of 1999 will receive $8700 to be available for last years
graduating class to apply for.
The minimum guaranteed scholarship
amount that will be available this year is $850, which is $350 more than last
year. The Board of Trustees felt that we
should award the highest amount possible yet stay within the framework of the
endowment fund.
This year we have pass-through
scholarships which total $3,750, which is included in the $50,000. A pass-through scholarship is where an
organization has given us funds for a grant and we simply pass it through to a
graduating senior.
This year there are 66 scholarships
to be given to 31 applicants. You have
made a difference with your contributions and support so please come and attend
Awards Night and be a part of the ceremony.
Anyone wishing to make a
contribution to the Foundation, please contact Dennis Smith, Board of Trustee
representative for the Ministerial Association, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn,
IA 52211.
