January 5, 2000 NEWS RELEASE
SCHOLARSHIP MONEY TO
BE MAILED BY CSF OF BGM
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar
Chapter) will be mailing out scholarship money of $10,235.00 to all students
who have scholarship money coming. The
paperwork is in the process and money will be mailed around January 15, 2000.
The $10,235.00 is made up of three different scholarship periods. They are: 1999 regular scholarships totaling
$6,850.00, 1998 regular scholarships totaling $2,300.00 and the 1998 2nd
year scholarships totaling $1,085.00.
Of the 1999 graduates who received a scholarship there are 9 who have
not yet requested their funds. Please
contact J. C. Miller at 522-9206 (work) if you have any questions about your
scholarship money.
It’s the Foundations policy that scholarship money not exceed $500.00
per semester. If you received a
scholarship over $1,200.00, for example, you would receive $500.00 in the fall
of 1999, $500.00 at the beginning of 2000, and then the remainder if under
$500.00 in the fall of 2000.
Please remember you also have one (1) year to start using the
scholarship awarded. For those students
who received a scholarship in May 1999 you have until August 15, 2000 to start
to use it. Scholarships not used are
then transferred into the Elsie & Skip Motes Second Chance Fund. The exception to the one year rule is if the
students enter the Armed Forces of the United States then they have one year
after being released from active duty to use the scholarship.
When you support the CSF of BGM, you help open doors to education. You are telling our students we believe in
them, have confidence in their ability, and support their efforts to better
themselves and their community. You are
helping to make that difference.
If you would like to be a part of the Foundation in any way please
contact a Board member, or write to the address below. We will be happy to put you in touch with
the right person.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact
Becky Edelen, Board of Trustee representative for TTT, or any other board
member. You can also write to Box 469,
Brooklyn, Iowa 52211.
