5th GOLDEN TASSEL AWARD TO IOWA CHAPTERS
The new Pella Dollars for Scholars Chapter has received notice that they were the winner of the 2001 Golden Tassel Award. This award is considered the top award that a Dollars for Scholars Chapter in the United States can win. All aspects of the chapter’s organization are taken into consideration. These include fund raising, board commitment, community support and many other items that determine the success of the local chapter. The winning chapter each year competes with over 900 chapters currently organized in the United States.
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM won the award in 1997, which was the second year that the award was given. Since then, the Ida Grove chapter won in 1998, the Carlisle chapter won in 1999, the Indianola chapter won in 2000, and now, the Pella chapter has won in 2001.
No other state has more than one winner, and most states have no award winner. By winning these awards, Iowa has once again proven that education is important to us and that the citizens of Iowa are willing to support their local chapters with donations.
The Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of BGM would like to congratulate the Pella chapter for their outstanding service to their community.
