AHRENS FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTES TO PRESCHOOL FUND

The CSF of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a donation from the Claude & Dolly Ahrens Foundation from Grinnell. This donation was a one time donation in the amount of $1000. The donation was applied towards the $100,000 endowment fund the Foundation would like to raise over the next three years to permanently support scholarships for the preschool children.

This year there are 28 children enrolled in preschool, which is up from 14 the previous year. Each child will be charged $400. The scholarship from CSF is to be used towards the preschool tuition fees regardless of financial status of the parents. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school when the parents fees are paid. CSF received $3000 from the R.J. McElroy Trust of Waterloo to fund these scholarships for the 2001 – 2002 school year. The 2002 – 2003 school year the McElroy Trust will contribute another $3600 and the 2003 –2004 they will contribute $4400 to be used towards tuition fees.

CSF of BGM is grateful to the Claude & Dolly Ahrens for their donation. To accomplish the goal of raising an endowment of $100,000 over the next three years we need everyone’s assistance to get this fund established.
