BGM ATHLETIC BOOSTERS CLUB MAKES DONATION TO CSF
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) recently received a donation of $500 from the BGM Athletic Boosters Club.
The BGM Athletic Boosters joined with CSF of BGM in December of 1995 wishing to award a scholarship each year to an athlete. Each year there has been a scholarship awarded. This year the club gave out two $250 scholarships to athletes. The BGM Athletic Boosters has a June 30 balance of $4,942.90 within their fund. The $500 donation will be in the current year balance, which started July 1, 2001.
There is a special point system for determining who shall receive the scholarship as follows:
Personal Data:
Work Experience 40 points
Unusual Circumstances 45 points
Aspirations and Goals 20 points
School and Community involvement
Per Activity, per year 4 points
Per Captain, per year 4 points
Per Honor or Award per year 4 points
Per Sport over 2 per year 4 points
Per sample talent 4 points
Per year parents are members
of the BBAC 4 points
Grade Point Average
Grade point average 100 points maximum
In addition to the above system, the following shall also be calculated.
For the four years of high school, each applicant shall be allowed 20 points for each sport that they qualified in. However, each applicant must participate in a minimum of 2 sports per year in order to qualify for these scholarships. In addition, the applicant must have been on the team in each sport the entire season for that sport to qualify. Stated differently, each applicant must earn up to a total of 8 sports during the 4 years of high school multiplied by the points above.
Only sports played at BGM High School shall qualify. However, not withstanding the above, a BGM student who plays with another team, which has a share agreement with the BGM High School, that sport does qualify.
Any student who receives this scholarship shall also be eligible to receive an award from the regular fund of the CSF of BGM. Any student who would like to compete for this award should think ahead and participate in those sporting events at the school each year.
Anyone or organization wishing to make a contribution or add to an existing fund within the foundation, please contact Ric Radcliffe, Board of Trustees member for the BGM School Board, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
