DOROTHEA HICKS RECEIVES RECOGNITION

The CSF of BGM is proud to announce that Dorothea Hicks has been named to the Dollars for Scholars National Honor Roll.  There have been 86 volunteers honored nationally out of about 900 chapters.

Dorothea Hicks has been on the Board of Trustees of the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of BGM since the chapter was formed in 1989.  She has been the chair of the Awards Committee since 1989.  Due to her strong leadership, the chapter has not had a complaint regarding the awarding of scholarships during our first twelve years.

Dorothea has provided leadership to the Evaluation Committee who scores the applications each year.  Her sense of fairness and following of the various rules has insured that the confidence of the school district regarding the awarding of scholarships has always been at the highest level possible.  Dorothea has truly earned a place of honor as a member of the National Honor Roll.

JC Miller presented Dorothea with a plaque and pin for her efforts from the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America at Awards Night, May 16, 2001.

The Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of BGM became a tax-exempt scholarship foundation in April of 1989.  With a board of directors made up of local volunteers, the purpose of the foundation is to raise funds for local scholarships and make awards to deserving local students.

If you wish to become involved in this exciting and important local program, or to make a contribution to the Foundation, you can contact Mrs. Marvin (Dorothea) Hicks, Board of Trustee representative for the Guernsey Alumni Association, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
