SCHOLARSHIP MONEY RECEIVED FROM GRINNELL GIRLS CAMP ASSOC.

The CSF of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) recently received a check in the amount of $1,000.00 that was given as two $500.00 scholarships at Awards Night from the Grinnell Girls Camp Association.  This year’s recipient was Angela Carlton who is planning on attending Mt. Mercy College, and Lauren Clayton who is planning on attending Drake University.  This is the fourth year that the Girls Camp Association has given money toward a scholarship to BGM.

The Grinnell Girls Camp Association sold their camp grounds and the interest off of the proceeds from the sale has been given out to the Citizens Scholarship Foundations of BGM and Grinnell.  Since the camp was used by both girls and boys in the Grinnell and Brooklyn area, the Camp Association wanted to give something back to the communities in return.  The Camp Association would prefer the money to go to students, male or female, who will be pursuing a career in environmental studies or working with children in any capacity.

The Foundation is grateful to the Grinnell Girls Camp Association for their generous contribution.  Through your contributions and help there is hope for our students.  You can help in making a difference for our students in the years to come.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Michelle Steffen, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM School Board-Guernsey, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.

Saying for the week:  I expect to pass through the world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to my fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. - Stephen Grellet
