MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY OCTOBER 27
The CSF of BGM, a Dollars for Scholars Chapter, will participate in Make a Difference Day again this year.
This year the freshman class (Class of 2005), will be canvassing the BGM School District to ask for $1 for the scholarship foundation, and a non-perishable food item for the food pantry. The funds collected will be given as a scholarship to the class in 2005. They will be collecting from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27. Due to scheduling conflicts, students could be canvassing anytime during the week or weekend. Canvassing will be complete by Sunday, October 28 evening. If people will be away from their home and wish to donate, Julie Cline will be stationed in the Catholic Church parking lot from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday the 27th.
If you would like to volunteer your services to help this day or you cannot be available to make your donation, please call Julie Cline at 641-528-4400. Make a Difference Day is designed to encourage volunteering and organization within the community. We want to give our students experience in volunteering and helping others. Your help would be appreciated on this day.
Over 40 years ago Dr. Irving Fradkin and 40 volunteers started Dollars for Scholars, by asking everyone to give one dollar toward the education of the town’s youth in Fall River, MN. That first campaign raised nearly $6,000. Scholarship support of just $1 per person can make a difference in a student’s life. Any individual or organization wishing to make a contribution to the foundation, please contact Julie Cline, Board of Trustee representative for the City of Malcom, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
Saying for the week: When we dream alone, it is only a dream, but when we dream together, it is the beginning of reality.
