$5,000 PRESCHOOL DONATION

The CSF of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a check for $5000.00 from Manatts Inc to help start the preschool endowment fund.  This is the 1st payment of a three-year pledge totaling $15,000.00.  This amount is a big step towards raising the $100,000 endowment fund the Foundation would like to raise over the next three years to permanently support scholarships for the preschool children.

The tuition increase for the preschool program started the incentive to get an endowment fund established.  The increase in tuition was necessary because of rising expenses.  Mike Manatt was very supportive in the idea of starting an endowment fund for the preschool.  Mike is quoted as saying “Manatts are pleased that we could be a part of the endowment fund for the preschool children.  It will be great for the community to be able to have affordable preschool within the BGM School District.”

Scholarships will be available starting the 2001-2002 school year.  Each child will receive an automatic $200 scholarship to be used towards the preschool tuition fees regardless of financial status of the parents.  With the help of a scholarship program for the preschool it should help us attract and keep people in the community.  We don’t want to see our preschool children going to other towns for preschool because their families can’t afford the tuition fees.

The goal of CSF is to raise an endowment fund of $100,000 over the next three years that will earn 5% interest, bringing $5000 per year to fund the preschool scholarships.  To accomplish this we will need everyone’s assistance to get the endowment fund established.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the preschool scholarship fund or any of the other endowment funds within the Foundation may contact Michelle Steffen, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM School Board-Guernsey, or any other board member.  You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA  52211.
