April 12, 2001 NEWS RELEASE
$1,000 CONTRIBUTION RECEIVED FROM MARTIN MARIETTA AGGREGATES
Over the past 8 years Martin Marietta Aggregates thru the Malcom Stone Operations has contributed to the Foundation’s Second Chance Scholarship Fund. This year Martin Marietta has sent the Foundation another $1000 contribution. Martin Marietta Aggregates believes in education and makes many such contributions to educational endeavors. Since 1959 the Malcom Stone Quarry has provided stone for the surrounding area.
The Second Chance Scholarship Fund’s mission is, “To encourage higher education for those who did not pursue their education directly upon graduation from high school.”
Applications for the Second Chance Scholarship fund are always available, however, applications are only reviewed during a certain time period. For an application and or guidelines and rules on the Second Chance Scholarship please contact any board member or the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter).
The Foundation is grateful to the Martin Marietta Aggregates organization and the Malcom Stone Operations for their continued support. When large companies not directly involved with our communities show this kind of support for education, it is especially meaningful. The Foundation believes in education and only through your support can it reach its goals. We appreciate your help. If you have not yet made a contribution to the Foundation, now might be an excellent time to do so.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation, please contact Allison Lorenz, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM School Board-Malcom, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
