POWESHIEK BANK DONATES TO PRESCHOOL FUND
The CSF of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a donation from the Poweshiek County Savings Bank for $1250. This is the 1st payment of a three-year pledge from the bank.
Jack Arendt, bank President commented that preschool is a great program and that it is very important to get our children off on the right foot before going to school. A preschool program that will be giving a scholarship to each child who attends is an asset to our school district . The bank is excited to be a partner in the process of starting an endowment fund to help the preschool program.
Scholarships will be available starting the 2001-2002 school year. Each child will receive an automatic $200 scholarship to be used towards the preschool tuition fees regardless of financial status of the parents. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school when the parents fees are paid.
The goal of CSF is to raise an endowment fund of $100,000 over the next three years that will earn 5% interest, bringing $5000 per year of available money to fund the preschool scholarships. To accomplish this goal we will need everyone’s assistance to get the endowment fund established.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the preschool scholarship fund or any of the other endowment funds within the Foundation may contact Brenda Strong, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM Alumni Association, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
