RENE AND ELNA SEYE MEMORIAL REACHES PERMANENT SCHOLARSHIP LEVEL
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholars Chapter) received a contribution for the Rene and Elna Seye Memorial, which put this memorial at the permanent scholarship level.
Rene and Elna Seye moved to Guernsey in the early 50’s and had two girls. Bev (King) and Bonnie (Ritchie). Elna was a teacher and first taught in the Guernsey school system and later the BGM school system when they combined, where she retired in 1970. Rene had to work to make a living and was unable to go to school. He realized how important an education could be and was always pushing his children and grandchildren to get their education. Bev commented that her mother Elna, having been a school teacher, would be very happy that the family had setup a memorial scholarship in their name and that other kid’s would be getting some benefit from the money which has been set aside.
The Foundation is grateful to the family of Rene and Elna Seye for their contribution. This memorial will be always a part of the Foundation and will help to encourage all graduates to continue their education.
All you contributions help in making the Foundation grow. Each year we hope everyone will continue their support and a few new contributors will help out as well. The Foundation is a community project everyone can be proud of. You have come together to help our graduating seniors pursue higher education with a scholarship.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Michelle Steffen, Board of Trustee representative for the BGM School Board – Guernsey, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
