2ND YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED
26 Seniors from the class of 1997 has applied for and received the Raymond M Foster Second Year Scholarships. The deadline for the applications to be in was July 27, 1998. A total of $8,320.00 has been divided evenly between each of the students which amounts to a scholarship of $320.00. These funds will be paid to the students in the middle of August or later if any of the students are receiving scholarship money from other scholarships from CSF of BGM that they were awarded last year. The $500.00 maximum paid per semester rule aslo applies for the 2nd Year Scholarships.
The Raymond M Foster Second Year Scholarship Fund was established by the Raymond M Foster estate. These funds are awarded each year to each applicant that are continuing their education into the second year.
This year the total amount of the awards is the highest that has been paid. The fund started the year, which was July 1, 1997, with a balance of $166,473. Contributions to the fund totaled $100.00 and the investment income totaled $16,274. Total scholarships of $8,320.00 was awarded leaving a balance on June 30, 1998 of $174,547, which includes a $20.00 carryover from a previous year.
The foundation acknowledges the great support that Raymond M Foster Second Year Scholarships has given to "our kids". Raymond’s name and memory continues to live on through his scholarship fund.
