STOCK RECEIVED AS CONTRIBUTION TO CSF OF BGM
Last year the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of B.G.M. ( a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) received stock in a public company as a contribution. That contribution was from Marilyn Meyer. Marilyn is the daughter of Opal and Claire Meyer who’s memorial fund reached the permanent scholarship level.
Graduating from BGM in 1961, Marilyn then went on to St Luke’s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids and graduated in 1964. Marilyn worked at the University of Iowa for 5 years before going on to the Veteran’s Hospital in Minneapolis where she has worked for 26 years.
Marilyn wrote that she believes education is the strength of a nation and that she also has strong family ties and would like to help young Iowans continue their education at BGM. The Foundation has given her the avenue to do that. She wrote that she is proud to be a part of such a fine community that continues to think of the future and help it’s future leaders. She wrote, "Education is vital, never underestimate the power of education".
The Foundation wants to thank Marilyn Meyer for her contribution of stock. This is another way someone can contribute to the Foundation. If you have a stock that has appreciated in value, the tax savings by making a contribution can be vary helpful in cutting your Federal & State taxes. Please contact your Tax Advisor or J.C. Miller at (522-9206) to learn more about this possibility.
Through your contributions and help there is hope for our students. You can help in making a difference for our students in the years to come.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Sherry Burke, Board of Trustee representative for the City of Guernsey, or any other Board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, Iowa 52211.
