CITIZEN’S SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION OF BGM BOARD MEETING
The CSF of BGM held their yearly board meeting on September 22, 1998 7:00 p.m. at the Manatt’s Office Building.
The meeting was called to order by President J. C. Miller and those present were: J. C. Miller, Steve Stumpff, Lyle Oswood, Sherry Burke, Marcia Braley, Jan Read, Brenda Strong, Marie Roudabush, Juile Cline, Dale Douglas, Julie Grier, Dorothea Hicks, Becky Edelen, Dennis Smith, and Janet Mc Naul.
The first order of business was replacing board members whose term has expired. The following members agreed to return. Becky Edelen, Dale Douglas, Dorothea Hicks, Steve Stumpff, J. C. Miller, Julie Grier and Janet Mc Naul.
Election of officers was held with the following people elected.
President - J. C. Miller
Vice President - Lyle Oswood
Secretary - Steve Stumpff
Treasurer - Jan Read
The treasurer’s annual report was distributed but the audit was not complete at the time of the meeting. The transfer of $15,000 to Norwest (short term) as approved by the board. Jim Schwiebert has resigned from the investment committee, and all members approved that Ruth Wagner be appointed to the position.
The purchase of CD’s of $58,000 from Poweshiek Co Savings Bank at 5.5% and $20,000 from First Federal Savings Bank at 5.77% was approved by the members.
The schedule of events for the year was set. The dates are: Handout Applications - March 1, 1999, Application Night - March 31, 1999, Application Grading Night and making up certificates night will be set by Dorothea, and Awards Night - May 19, 1999.
Funds that are recieved from the court system from fines will be allocated to the DARE fund with it being moved by Dorothea and seconded by Marie and all members approving.
Discussion was held on the Dollars for Scholars Iowa office which is in the process of being organized by the National office. Board members were updated on the new communities where chapters were being formed in Iowa.
THE GOAL FOR THE COMING YEAR 1999 IS ($29,000.00)
