CSF OF BGM RECEIVES $1,000.00 FROM MANATTS ENTERPRISES

The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) received a check for $1,000.00 from Manatt’s Enterprises.

Junie, Merlin & Verna Manatt have always been a strong supporter of the Foundation. They were one of the original matching funds along with the Brooklyn Mutual Telephone Co. and the Poweshiek County Savings Bank that helped get the Foundation off the ground and establish the base the Foundation has today.

Comments that have been made by Junie and Merlin have often been about or youth and education. They have said that our youth are the most important asset we have and we (the community) must try to give them the opportunity to receive the best education we can. The community must help them to be the best they can. The Scholarship Foundation is only one way in which all of us can help.

The Foundation thanks Junie, Merlin & Verna Manatt for their past and continued support. With their support, and all the rest of you, the Foundation has been able to give that opportunity to our students wishing to go on to higher education.

The annual appeal letter and reports have been mailed. If you or anyone you know did not receive one and would like to, please contact the Foundation at P.O. Box 469. Your contribution no matter how large or small, does make a difference. The earlier your donation is received, the larger the interest income, making more money available to be used for the scholarships.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Rich Carmichael, Board of Trustee representative for the Brooklyn Ruritans, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, Iowa 52211.

Saying for this week is: A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW...it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... ...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a
