August 19, 1998 NEWS RELEASE
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS SENT TO STUDENTS
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) forwarded to the students who returned their paperwork, their scholarship money ($23,320.00) for the first semester of 1998-99 school year .
The $23,320.00 is made up of three different levels. They are: First, $13,500.00 scholarship money was sent to the 1998 seniors who returned their paperwork with 27 students receiving these funds. Second, $3,990.00 scholarship money was sent to the 1997 seniors who still had funds available to them with 9 students receiving these funds. Third, $5,530.00 scholarship money was sent to the 1997 seniors for the 2nd year scholarship funds provided by the Raymond M Foster fund with 19 students receiving these funds.
It’s the Foundations policy that scholarship money not exceed $500.00 per semester. You have one (1) year to enroll in college to use the scholarship awarded. For those students who received a scholarship in May 1998 you have until August 15, 1999 to enroll. Scholarships not used are then put into the Second Chance Fund.
Any student who has received a scholarship from the foundation and has not yet turned in their paperwork are encouraged to do so. Those students who are not attending college this fall have one year to start school before they lose their grant. If any student should need assistance regarding their paperwork please feel free to give J. C. Miller a call at 522-9206 during the day.
When you support the CSF of BGM you help open doors to education. You are telling our students we believe in them, have confidence in their ability, and support their efforts to better themselves and their community. You are helping to make that difference.
