July 9, 1998 NEWS RELEASE
SCHOLARSHIP MONIES WAITING FOR APPLICATIONS
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) is still waiting to hear back from students who received applications for the Second Year Scholarship. In addition, 1998 Seniors must send in their paperwork for Scholarships passed out in May before they can receive their scholarship money.
As a reminder to the applicants, it is the policy of the CSF of BGM that scholarship money paid out by CSF not exceed $500.00 per semester. Example, if you received a $1,500.00 scholarship you will receive $500.00 this fall and $500.00 at the beginning of next year and the final $500.00 in the fall following the year you received the first $500.00
The Second Year Scholarship (1997 graduates) application deadline is July 27, 1997 and there will be $8,300.00 available money to be distributed to those who apply. These funds are divided up evenly between all applicants.
There were 37 graduating students last May that applied for a scholarship from the CSF of BGM. So far 13 graduates have turned in the necessary papers to receive their scholarship this fall. That leaves 24 students that still need to turn in their papers if they are going to school this fall. If you have a question as to whether you have sent your papers in yet, please call J.C. Miller work: 522-9206 or home 522-9626. The students do have 1 year to use that scholarship. That means if you are going to use the scholarship, you must send in the proper papers and start the scholarship prior to the fall of 1999. Scholarships not used are then transferred into the Second Chance Fund.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Marty Kolars, Board of Trustee representative for the Malcom Ruritan Club, or any other Board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
