December 30, 1998 NEWS RELEASE
SCHOLARSHIP MONEY SENT OUT BY CSF OF BGM
The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of BGM (a Dollars for Scholar Chapter) mailed out scholarship money of $11,130.00 to all students who have scholarship money coming.
The $11,130.00 is made up of three different scholarship periods. They are: 1997 scholarships, 1998 scholarships and second year scholarships.
It’s the Foundations policy that scholarship money not exceed $500.00 per semester. If you received a scholarship over $1,200.00, for example, you would receive $500.00 in the fall of 1998, $500.00 at the beginning of 1999, and then the remainder if under $500.00 in the fall of 1999.
You have one (1) year to start to use the scholarship awarded. For those students who received a scholarship in May 1998 you have until August 15, 1999 to start to use it. Scholarships not used are transferred into the Elsie & Skip Motes Second Chance Fund. The exception to the one year rule is if the students enter the Armed Forces of the United States then they have one year after being released from active duty to use the scholarship.
When you support the CSF of BGM you help open doors to education. You are telling our students we believe in them, have confidence in their ability, and support their efforts to better themselves and their community. You are helping to make that difference.
If you would like to be a part of the Foundation in any way please contact a Board member, or write to the address below. We will be happy to put you in touch with the right person.
Only by all of us working together can we make the best scholarship foundation that we are capable of having. The CSF of BGM is considered to be one of the best scholarship foundations in the State of Iowa, and perhaps the nation. Your contributions have made the CSF of BGM what it is today. Over 550 people and organizations have made contributions since 1989. If you have never made a contribution, THIS IS THE YEAR TO DO SO.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Foundation please contact Becky Edelen, Board of Trustee representative for TTT, or any other board member. You can also write to Box 469, Brooklyn, IA 52211.
